Andy Pandy (2002)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a 2002 revival of the original 1950 children's programme in which Andy Pandy and his friends Looby Loo and Teddy had enjoyed endless fun in a world full of songs and games. The animation was no longer by means of puppeteering but stop-frame model animation by Cosgrove Hall Digital, with remodelled characters and several new ones, such as Miss Hissy (a snake) and Orbie (a blue and yellow ball). The environment was changed too, from a picnic basket in the garden of a house to a small village, inhabited by the new characters, each with their own house. The stories were narrated by actor Tom Conti and 52 episodes were produced in two series, which were aired on CBeebies from 2002 until 2008.
